Poonch: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Poonch Police has attached property belonging to a known drug peddler in the district.

According to a police spokesperson, the action was taken in connection with FIR No. 178/2025 registered at Police Station Poonch under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The attached property belongs to Mohd Iqbal, son of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Seri Khwaja and currently living in Kamsar.

The seized asset, registered in the name of his wife, Shahnaz Kouser, is a three-storey building under construction on 10 marlas of land (Khasra No. 2093) at Kamsar, valued at around ₹1.11 crore. The competent authority under SAFEMA has also been notified.

Police said the action aims to cut off the financial backbone of the narcotics trade and send a clear message that those involved in drug trafficking will face strict legal and economic repercussions.

Poonch Police reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating drug abuse from the district and vowed continued action against peddlers and anyone profiting from narcotics. The public has been urged to share credible information on drug-related activities, with assurances that informants’ identities will remain confidential.
