Jammu: Police on Tuesday attached assets worth ₹50 lakh belonging to a drug peddler under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, officials said.
During investigations into narcotics cases, it was revealed that the accused, Amit Singh, had purchased a residential house with adjoining land in village Preyan Sounthan and a KTM Duke motorcycle using proceeds from the drug trade, they added.
Police said that based on material evidence and findings, the properties were confirmed to have been acquired through illegal earnings from narcotics trafficking. Consequently, both movable and immovable assets were attached under the NDPS Act for further legal action.
The total value of the attached properties, including the house, land, and vehicle, has been estimated at ₹50 lakh.
So far this year, Udhampur Police have attached properties worth ₹10.50 crore in NDPS-related cases, reaffirming their commitment to making the district drug-free, officials added.
