Pulwama Police Recover 1.19 kg Charas, Accused Arrested

Pulwama, Dec 02: Police in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district recovered a large quantity of contraband during a naka checking operation at Koil Bridge. The seizure is part of the district police’s ongoing drive against drug trafficking.

According to officials, a team from Police Station Pulwama intercepted a suspect near the bridge and recovered 1.190 kilograms of charas powder-like substance from his possession. The accused has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Rather, son of Mohd Sabir Rather, resident of Lajoora Pulwama.

The suspect was taken into custody on the spot, and a case has been registered under FIR No. 279/2025 at Police Station Pulwama. The case invokes Sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act, with investigations now underway to trace the source and network behind the contraband.

Police officials said the operation reflects their commitment to curb drug trafficking in the district. They urged citizens to cooperate by sharing information about drug peddling or other unlawful activities to help safeguard the community.
