Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, 35, passed away on October 7, ten days after suffering critical injuries in a road accident on September 27. The artist had been on life support at Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where he was being treated for severe head and spinal injuries sustained when his motorcycle collided with a stray cow in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
Doctors said Jawanda had shown minimal brain activity and no significant improvement during his treatment.
A resident of Sector 71, Mohali, Jawanda was best known for popular tracks such as Suname, Kamla, Mera Dil, and Sardari. He also made his mark in Punjabi cinema with films like Jind Jaan, Mindo Taseeldarni, and Kaka Ji.
Jawanda began his music career in 2014 with the single Munda Like Me and quickly rose to fame for his soulful voice and lyrics celebrating Punjabi culture. He had over 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. According to his Apple Music biography, Jawanda initially aspired to become a police officer before pursuing music full-time.
Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia paid tribute to the late singer on X, writing, “Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Rajvir Jawanda. Gone too soon, but his soulful voice will live on in every heartbeat of Punjab. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and millions of fans. May Waheguru bless his soul with eternal peace.”
