Mumbai: Former actor Zaira Wasim, who stepped away from Bollywood over six years ago, shared joyful news with her fans on Friday night — she’s now married.
Zaira took to Instagram to post two photos from her wedding, though she chose to keep her husband’s identity private, revealing neither his name nor face.
Dressed in a bright red outfit adorned with golden embroidery, Zaira looked radiant as she and her husband were seen signing their nikaah papers and posing with their backs to the camera.
She captioned the post simply: “Qubool Hai x3.”
Zaira made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with Dangal, where she portrayed the younger version of wrestler Geeta Phogat. The film, starring Aamir Khan, became a massive success and earned Zaira the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
She later appeared in Secret Superstar (2017), a heartwarming musical drama about a young girl aspiring to be a singer. The film, again featuring Aamir Khan, was lauded for its performances and storytelling.
Zaira’s final appearance on screen was in The Sky Is Pink (2019), alongside Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar. Soon after, she announced her decision to quit acting, expressing a desire to focus on her faith.
At the time, she wrote in a Facebook post, “I want to confess that I am not truly happy with this identity — my line of work. For a very long time now, it has felt like I have struggled to become someone else.”
