Muzaffarpur (Bihar): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed to end the military conflict with Pakistan in May “within five hours” after US President Donald Trump asked him to do so.

Addressing a rally in Muzaffarpur as part of the state-wide Voter Adhikar Yatra, Gandhi was joined by INDIA bloc allies M K Stalin (DMK) and Tejashwi Yadav (RJD).

“You know what Trump said today? At the height of tensions with Pakistan, he called Modi and instructed him to stop the conflict within 24 hours. Modi followed the directive in just five hours,” Gandhi claimed, referring to a video of Trump speaking at a White House cabinet meeting.

The US President has maintained that the standoff between India and Pakistan was halted due to his intervention—a claim rejected by the Modi government. The Centre stated that the military actions were stopped following direct talks between Indian and Pakistani forces, without US mediation.

Gandhi also targeted the media, asserting, “The media will not show you what Trump said because it only supports Modi and his business allies, not leaders like me, Stalin, or Tejashwi.”

During his fortnight-long yatra against the intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, Gandhi promised to present more evidence of vote manipulation. “I have already gathered substantial proof that votes have been stolen to benefit the BJP. More evidence will follow,” he said.

He criticized the “Gujarat model,” which Modi promoted as chief minister, claiming it was built on “vote chori.” Gandhi alleged that the BJP, along with Modi and Amit Shah, wins elections by manipulating votes with the Election Commission’s assistance.

The Rae Bareli MP also condemned the deletion of 65 lakh names from Bihar’s draft electoral rolls, which were listed as “dead,” “shifted,” or “absent.” “Thousands in Bihar have reported that their names were wrongly removed. Many living people are even marked as dead,” he said.

He further alleged that the Election Commission is removing names not of the wealthy, but of Dalits, OBCs, extremely backward classes, and minorities, claiming, “The BJP does this to silence the voice of common people.”
