New Delhi, Nov 28: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the worsening air pollution in the national capital, describing it as a “health emergency”.
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, demanded an immediate and detailed debate in Parliament on the issue and called for a strict, enforceable action plan to tackle the crisis. He said the government has shown no urgency or accountability in addressing the problem.
Interacting with a group of mothers at his residence, Gandhi highlighted concerns over the impact of toxic air on children’s health. He shared a video of the discussion, noting that parents are exhausted, scared, and angry over the situation.
“Modi ji, India’s children are choking in front of us. How can you stay silent?” Gandhi asked in a post on social media, urging the Prime Minister to act decisively.
Delhi has been battling very poor air quality for more than two weeks, with experts warning of severe health consequences. The issue is expected to feature prominently in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament.
