NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday asserted that as long as elections are “stolen,” unemployment and corruption will continue to rise, warning that India’s youth will no longer tolerate “job theft” and “vote theft.”
In a post on X in Hindi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha described unemployment as the biggest challenge facing young Indians, directly linking it to “vote chori” (vote theft).
“When a government earns the public’s trust, its foremost duty is to provide employment and opportunities to the youth,” Gandhi said.
He alleged that the BJP does not win elections fairly, instead “staying in power by stealing votes and controlling institutions,” and claimed this is why unemployment has reached a 45-year high.
“That’s why jobs are dwindling, recruitment processes are collapsing, and the future of our youth is at risk. Every exam paper leak and every corrupt recruitment scandal reflects this reality,” he said.
Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating: “The country’s youth work hard, dream big, and fight for their future. Meanwhile, Modi focuses on PR, celebrity endorsements, and billionaire profits. The government’s identity has become one of crushing the hopes of young people and leaving them frustrated.”
He added that the tide is turning: “India’s youth now realize that the real battle is not just for jobs, but against vote theft. As long as elections are stolen, unemployment and corruption will continue to rise.”
“The youth will no longer tolerate job theft or vote theft,” Gandhi emphasized. “True patriotism today lies in freeing India from unemployment and stolen votes.”
Gandhi also shared a split-screen video contrasting police lathi-charging protesting students seeking jobs on one side, with Prime Minister Modi planting saplings, feeding peacocks, and practicing yoga on the other.
