Chennai: Megastar Rajinikanth’s latest action thriller, Coolie, is all set to begin its digital journey.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film will premiere on Prime Video on September 11.
Set against the gritty backdrop of the Visakhapatnam docks, Coolie follows Deva, a former coolie turned rebel, who uncovers a deadly smuggling syndicate while investigating the suspicious death of his best friend. The revelation of a secret electric chair, buried truths, and a hidden mole draws him into a perilous game of betrayal and unfinished business. Deva’s fight for justice intertwines with the ghosts of his past, making his journey a relentless battle of loyalty, survival, and rebellion.
The film also stars Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan in key roles. Coolie had previously faced a box-office clash with War 2 on August 14.
Rajinikanth, who began his acting career in 1975, remains one of Tamil cinema’s most iconic figures. He made his debut in K. Balachander’s Apoorva Raagangal and has since delivered blockbuster hits including Sivaji: The Boss, Robot, 2.0, Thalapathy, and Jailer. Recently, the superstar celebrated 50 years in cinema.
