Srinagar: Rajiv Kumar Khajuria, noted civil society leader, philanthropist, child rights strategist, and Honorary President of the National Development Foundation (NDF), Jammu and Kashmir, called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to apprise him of the organisation’s activities. Advisor to the CM, Nasir Sogami, was also present at the meeting.
Khajuria highlighted NDF’s ongoing programmes, particularly in the field of Child Protection and the strengthening of the three-tier protection mechanism. Commending the Chief Minister’s pro-child approach, he stressed that the Child Protection System has both the capacity and the legal mandate to involve all stakeholders in ensuring the rights of survival, development, protection, and participation for every child in Jammu and Kashmir.
He urged the government to further strengthen the child protection framework so that it can effectively reach children in difficult circumstances. Khajuria also informed the CM that NDF will soon launch skill-building programmes for the youth and women of J&K, aimed at creating dignified livelihood opportunities and channelising their energies towards constructive engagement.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah gave a patient hearing and appreciated NDF’s initiatives, acknowledging the importance of government–civil society collaboration in bringing about positive change. He assured that the concerns raised would be duly addressed and extended full government support to such efforts.
