Emphasizes Preparedness of Essential Services Amid Adverse Weather

RAJOURI: In view of the adverse weather forecast, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today chaired a meeting to review preparedness measures and ensure the safety and well-being of residents, particularly those in snow-bound and remote areas.

The Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed review of high-altitude roads in Budhal and Thanamandi, with special attention to routes connecting Army posts. He directed the concerned authorities to remain vigilant and ensure prompt snow clearance and restoration of connectivity. He also instructed officials to keep the tribal population in the upper reaches informed about the prevailing weather conditions.

Reviewing the power supply scenario, the DC asked the Power Department to ensure uninterrupted electricity in vulnerable areas and provide protective gear to field staff for their safety. He emphasized identifying ground-level gaps and maintaining full readiness to respond to any emergency.

The Sheep Husbandry Department was directed to raise awareness in local languages so herders can report emergencies and seek assistance promptly. The Education Department was tasked with conducting safety audits in all government schools and ensuring similar checks in private institutions.

The DC also assessed the preparedness of the SDRF and instructed the department to conduct drills to ensure readiness for any contingency. The Health Department was directed to strengthen Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in remote areas to meet healthcare needs during adverse weather conditions.

The meeting was attended by ADC Chander Prakash; ACR Mohammad Jahangir Khan; SE Tilak Raj; CPO Maqsood Ahmed; DySP Satish Kumar; Chief Education Officer; Chief Medical Officer; Chief Agriculture Officer; Executive Engineers of PDD and PHE; Deputy Controller SDRF; and other district and sectoral officers. Additionally, ADCs Kalakote Tanvir Ahmed, Kotranka Dilmir Choudhary, Nowshera Pritam Lal Thapa, and Sunderbani Ramkesh Sharma participated virtually.
