RAJOURI: Rajouri District Tops National Rankings under Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari, Wins ₹2 Crore Award
Rajouri district has emerged as one of the top-performing districts under the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) 1.0 initiative, earning a prestigious cash award of ₹2 crore. This recognition comes based on verified data authenticated by the Central Nodal Officers (CNOs).
Under the dynamic leadership of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, the district administration worked relentlessly to ensure the successful implementation of JSJB activities. In the zone-wise performance evaluation, Rajouri secured the top position at the national level, reflecting the district’s efficiency, transparency, and commitment to citizen-centric governance.
As part of the program, the district successfully geo-tagged 4,208 rainwater harvesting structures, including 132 Amrit Sarovars, 894 ponds, 510 bowlis, 2,270 harvesting tanks, and 408 dugwells. These efforts have significantly strengthened rainwater harvesting capacity and contributed to long-term water sustainability in the region.
Aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of water security, the JSJB initiative promotes conservation through community partnership and ownership, adopting a whole-of-society and whole-of-government approach.
At the national level, 13 states were divided into five zones. In Zone 5, which includes the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Rajouri emerged as the national topper. The ₹2 crore award will be used to further strengthen ongoing development initiatives and enhance public welfare measures across the district.
Expressing satisfaction over this achievement, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma praised the tireless efforts of all departments, field functionaries, and stakeholders. He emphasized that the award not only recognizes Rajouri’s progress but also serves as a motivation to continue pursuing inclusive and sustainable development.
