Rajouri Police Nab Two With Heroin, Charas on ITI Road

Rajouri, Dec 02: A police party from Police Station Rajouri, while on routine patrolling in the ITI Road area, noticed two individuals moving from the Women Police Station towards Malik Market who attempted to flee on seeing the police. The alert team immediately apprehended them for checking.

During questioning, the duo disclosed their identities as Layaqit Ali, son of Mohammed Misher, resident of Chambi Trar Rajouri, and Ashfaq Ahmed, son of Wazir Mohd, resident of Chambi Trar Rajouri. On personal search, police recovered a black coloured polythene containing heroin-like narcotic substance weighing approximately 4.36 grams and charas-like substance weighing about 35 grams from their possession.

In this connection, FIR No. 583/2025 under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Rajouri. Both accused were taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.

Officials confirmed that the forward and backward linkages of the accused will be thoroughly probed to identify their associates and sources of procurement. The police emphasized that the crackdown is part of their intensified campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district.

Rajouri Police reiterated its firm commitment to continue strong action against drug peddlers and assured that surveillance and patrolling will be further strengthened to curb the menace.
