Rajouri Police Register Multiple FIRs for Tenant Verification Violations

Rajouri, December 12 — Rajouri Police, continuing its district-wide drive to enforce mandatory tenant verification guidelines, has taken action in Manjakote, Nowshera and Kandi after detecting multiple violations of the standing orders issued by the District Magistrate Rajouri.

Police Station Manjakote

Police Station Manjakote received information that two individuals had rented out rooms to persons from outside the Union Territory without completing the mandatory tenant verification process. For these violations, the following FIRs have been registered:

1. FIR No. 110/2025

2. FIR No. 111/2025

Police Station Nowshera

Acting on reliable information, Police Station Nowshera found that three shop owners had rented out their premises for stay to individuals from outside Jammu & Kashmir without conducting compulsory tenant verification, thereby violating the orders of the District Magistrate Rajouri. Accordingly, three FIRs have been registered:

1. FIR No. 186/2025 U/S 223 BNS

2. FIR No. 187/2025 U/S 223 BNS

3. FIR No. 188/2025 U/S 223 BNS

Police Station Kandi

Police Station Kandi has registered four FIRs for violations related to mandatory tenant verification and misuse of VPN services, in contravention of the District Magistrate’s orders. The FIRs registered under Section 223 BNS are as follows:

1. FIR No. 163/2025

2. FIR No. 164/2025

3. FIR No. 165/2025

4. FIR No. 168/2025

Rajouri Police has appealed to all landlords, property owners, and shopkeepers to strictly comply with tenant verification norms and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to maintain public safety and prevent misuse of rented premises.

The general public, particularly landlords, has been advised to adhere to the standing orders of the District Magistrate Rajouri regarding mandatory tenant verification before renting out any premises. Non-compliance will invite legal action as per law.
