Handwara, December 10 — A massive fire broke out in the forests of Compartment 69, Rajwar, Handwara during the night of December 9–10, according to official reports. The blaze spread rapidly across the forest area, prompting an immediate response from multiple agencies.

The Forest Protection Force (FPF), along with teams from the Forest Department and Fire & Emergency Services, rushed to the site and launched a joint firefighting operation. Efforts are currently underway to contain the flames and prevent further damage to the surrounding forest compartments.

Authorities have confirmed that the fire is being closely monitored, with teams working round the clock to douse the flames. Additional resources have been mobilized to strengthen the firefighting operations, and precautionary measures are being taken to safeguard nearby habitations.

Officials stated that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Investigations will be carried out once the situation is brought under control.
