Ranji Trophy: Ishan Kishan’s 173, Patidar’s Ton, and Two Debut Double Centuries Highlight Day Two
New Delhi: Opener Ishan Kishan’s explosive 173 put Jharkhand firmly in control against Tamil Nadu, while Rajat Patidar struck a superb century for Madhya Pradesh against Punjab on the second day of the Ranji Trophy on Thursday. The day also saw remarkable performances from two debutants — Goa’s Abhinav Tejrana and Delhi’s Ayush Doseja — both scoring double centuries on their first-class debuts.
According to Wisden, Kishan’s innings powered Jharkhand to 419, despite a four-wicket haul from Gurjapneet Singh. In response, Tamil Nadu collapsed to 18/5, undone by a fiery bowling spell. Meanwhile, Patidar’s unbeaten ton helped Madhya Pradesh surpass the 300-run mark, giving them a 73-run lead over Punjab.
For Andhra Pradesh, wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat scored a fluent 142, taking his team to 470, while Uttar Pradesh reached 73/1 at stumps, trailing by 397 runs.
Odisha was bowled out for 271 against Baroda, losing their last five wickets for just 66 runs. In reply, Baroda reached 127/2, led by an unbeaten 75 from Shivalik Sharma.

In Bengaluru, despite a seven-wicket haul from Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, Karnataka’s R Smaran and Shreyas Gopal scored fifties. In reply, Chirag Jani’s 90 led Saurashtra to 200/4. Rain in Thiruvananthapuram limited play, with Kerala at 35/3 chasing Maharashtra’s 239.

Delhi’s debutant Ayush Doseja became the second debutant double-centurion of the day, scoring 209 against Hyderabad to take Delhi to 529/4 declared, before their bowlers struck early. Himachal’s Mayank Dagar shone with both bat and ball against Puducherry.
