Jammu: Police on Friday arrested a rape accused and a woman absconder in separate operations conducted in Doda and Reasi districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a police spokesperson, Sunil Kumar, wanted in a case of rape and criminal breach of trust, was apprehended from Doda in a well-coordinated operation. The case against Kumar, a resident of Sindra Bala, had been registered earlier at Janipur Police Station in Jammu. However, he had been evading arrest for some time and had gone into hiding.
In another incident, police arrested a woman absconder from the Katra area of Reasi district. The woman had been on the run for the past 17 years and was wanted in connection with a 2008 abduction and rape case registered in Bhaderwah, Doda.
Following her arrest, the accused was produced before the Fast Track Court in Doda and subsequently sent to District Jail Bhaderwah under judicial remand until November 13.
