DC reviews road and essential service restoration in Reasi

REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, today chaired a review meeting with SDMs, Executive Engineers of PWD and PMGSY, and other concerned officials to assess the ongoing relief and restoration works following the recent floods.

The DC directed all SDMs and Tehsildars to expedite damage assessments and submit final relief cases by tomorrow to ensure timely assistance to the affected families. She informed that the District Administration has released around ₹90 lakh as relief for loss of life, livestock, and cattle shed damages.

Reviewing the status of road restoration, the DC instructed Executive Engineers of PWD and PMGSY to deploy adequate machinery and ensure round-the-clock clearance and repair works. SDM Dharmari was tasked to coordinate with GREF for immediate restoration of roads under its jurisdiction, while PMGSY Mahore was directed to prioritise vital road links. Detailed status reports on all roads were sought from both PWD and PMGSY.

The ADC was asked to obtain a report from Executive Engineer PWD Mahore on trafficable roads by this evening, with SDM Mahore verifying the ground situation. PMGSY Mahore was instructed to restore all roads by tomorrow, except technically challenging ones, and ensure partially open roads are fully functional before schools reopen.

On power supply restoration, JPDCL officials provided updates on feeder line and transformer repairs. The DC stressed immediate action to ensure uninterrupted electricity. She also directed the Jal Shakti department to repair damaged pipelines and restore safe drinking water at the earliest.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the need for close inter-departmental coordination to ensure fast restoration of essential services, uninterrupted supply of commodities, and effective relief delivery.

She also reviewed damage caused by land sinking in Mahore and directed SDM Mahore to ensure prompt evacuation of affected families to safer locations or relief camps. Additional relief material, including tents, mattresses, and food supplies, was ordered to be dispatched immediately.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Rakesh Kumar, ACR Nitin Verma, XEN Jal Shakti, and other officials, while SDMs joined virtually.
