Reasi: Authorities late Monday night ordered the relocation of 16 houses in Hassote Panchayat (B), Tehsil Chassana, following heavy rains that destabilized the hilly terrain and raised the risk of landslides.
An official stated that after inspecting the site, it was decided to immediately move residents to safer locations to prevent any loss of life. All affected families, residents of Hassote Panchayat (B), have been advised not to return until the area is officially declared safe.
The official added that continuous rainfall has left several parts of Reasi prone to landslides, prompting precautionary evacuations to ensure public safety.
The local administration is also taking further steps to identify and secure other vulnerable areas across the district.
