New Delhi: The Delhi Police have intensified their probe into the car blast near the Red Fort, uncovering key leads from CCTV footage that traces the suspect vehicle’s movements hours before the explosion.

According to police sources, the footage shows a white i20 car parked near the Red Fort parking area around 3:19 p.m., remaining there for nearly three hours before leaving at approximately 6:48 p.m.

Officials noted that the car exited during peak crowd movement in the area. Investigators are now scrutinising the footage to determine who brought the vehicle, who entered or exited it, and who later drove it away. They are also mapping the vehicle’s full route — from its origin to the Red Fort parking and its subsequent movement towards the traffic signal near the monument.

More than 100 CCTV clips from nearby roads, parking toll plazas, and adjoining areas are being analysed to track the car’s journey and identify the suspect. “The footage indicates that the suspect was alone,” a Delhi Police source said, adding that the route towards Daryaganj is now under close examination.

Investigators are also set to question the parking attendant on duty at the time to gather more details about the car’s arrival and departure.

A case has been registered under Sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Meanwhile, security in the area has been tightened. Gate Nos. 1 and 4 of the Lal Qila Metro Station have been closed for public movement due to ongoing security operations.

Police officials said efforts are underway to reconstruct the entire sequence of events leading to the blast, stressing that all possible angles are being investigated.
