Reliance’s Kutch Renewable Energy Project to Begin Solar Power Generation in H1 FY27

Mumbai: Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has announced that its massive renewable energy project in Kutch, Gujarat, will commence solar power generation in the first half of fiscal year 2026-27 (H1 FY27). The update was shared in the company’s Q2 FY26 results presentation, which highlighted significant progress at the 550,000-acre project site—an area nearly three times the size of Singapore.

According to RIL, engineering and feasibility studies for the Kutch Mega Project have been completed, and land development activities are currently underway. The company plans to start commissioning solar generation units to meet its captive power requirements as part of its broader green fuels program in early FY27.

Serving as the cornerstone of RIL’s integrated new energy ecosystem, the Kutch project will support the production of green hydrogen, green ammonia, green methanol, and sustainable aviation fuel. It will also integrate large-scale solar and battery giga-factories, positioning it among the world’s most advanced renewable energy infrastructures.

RIL further stated that its solar photovoltaic (PV) giga-factory in Jamnagar is expanding steadily. Four PV module lines have already been commissioned, with the first solar cell line set to become operational soon. The facility features fully automated sections, including cell print line loaders and texturization tools, aimed at maximizing efficiency.

Meanwhile, the company reported that construction of its battery energy storage giga-factory is progressing rapidly. Civil and engineering works for the 40 GWh manufacturing capacity have been completed, and installation of production equipment on prepared foundations is now underway.
