JAMMU: Dr. Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K, today conducted a detailed visit to Jagti Migrant Township to assess the progress of ongoing developmental and welfare initiatives.
During his visit, Dr. Karwani inspected construction activities across multiple camps and addressed the long-standing demand of residents for a reliable water supply. Officials informed him that work on four new borewells is already underway, providing much-needed relief to the community.
The Commissioner also visited Higher Secondary School, Jagti, where he reviewed ongoing development works and actively participated in Swachhata Pakhwara activities, underlining the department’s commitment to cleanliness and community welfare.

Dr. Karwani sought comprehensive updates from concerned officers on project statuses and emphasized the importance of completing all works within the prescribed timelines.
A key highlight of the visit was the distribution of NFSA ration cards to migrant families, who were previously excluded from the National Food Security Act. With their inclusion in the NFSA database, these families can now access benefits under various social welfare schemes, ensuring greater social and economic support.
Additionally, an awareness camp was organized in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department to educate residents about available welfare schemes and guide them in availing these benefits.
The visit also featured a public grievance redressal camp at the Community Hall, Jagti, chaired by Dr. Karwani. Residents were given the opportunity to voice day-to-day concerns, with assurances that all genuine issues would be addressed promptly.
Interacting with the community, Dr. Karwani reaffirmed the government’s dedication to the welfare and rehabilitation of migrant families.
The programme was attended by Vijay Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner (Relief); Sanjeev Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (Relief); Kailash Devi, Assistant Commissioner (Relief); and senior officers from various line departments.
