Jammu: Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday confirmed that rescue and relief operations are underway in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, following a cloudburst that claimed four lives.
The cloudburst struck the remote Jod Ghati village of Rajbagh during the night between Saturday and Sunday, leaving four dead and six injured. The sudden deluge also cut off access to the village and caused significant damage to land and property.
“Spoke to SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saxena after receiving information about a cloudburst in the Janglote area,” Singh wrote on X. He added, “Four casualties have been reported. In addition, the railway track, National Highway, and Police Station Kathua have sustained damage.”
Singh said the civilian administration, along with military and paramilitary forces, has mobilized to manage the situation, which is being closely monitored. He expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased.
