JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, reviewed the restoration of essential services—power, water, road connectivity, mobile networks, and traffic movement—disrupted by the recent heavy rains.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including MD JPDCL, IGP Traffic, Commissioner JMC, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, Chief Engineers of PDD, PWD and PHE, Director FCS&CA, and representatives from BRO, NHAI, NHIDCL, IOC, and mobile service providers.
The Divisional Commissioner assessed district-wise damages to infrastructure and essential services. The Regional Officer NHAI informed that restoration of the severely affected stretch of NH-44 at Samroli, Udhampur, would be completed by tomorrow evening. He was directed to deploy additional men and machinery to expedite the work.

PWD, PDD, and PHE officials were instructed to monitor restoration works for early resumption of services. The PHE department was specifically asked to conduct water sampling in flood-affected supply schemes before declaring them safe.
Deputy Commissioners were tasked with extending full support to field staff working on restoring services, particularly in towns and remote areas. The SSP Traffic Rural briefed the Div Com on the regulation plan for movement of traffic and essential supplies from Lakhanpur to Kashmir via Mughal Road.
The Div Com also directed immediate distribution of adequate relief material in affected areas and reviewed the availability of ration and essential commodities. District administrations were further instructed to carry out damage assessments of property, crops, livestock, and land.
