Rich Tributes Paid to Braveheart Lieutenant Thakur Dass Sharma at Akhnoor

Jammu: Lieutenant Thakur Das Sharma of 6/5 GR was remembered on his supreme sacrifice day in Kalidhar sector while defending Indian territory during 1965 Indo-Pak war at Sports Club Akhnoor.

The solemn ceremony was graced by the presence of Deputy Superintendent of Police along with 22 Ex-Servicemen and 6 Veer Naris. Lt Thakur Das Sharma was a valiant commissioned army officer and a good sportsperson. The tribute ceremony started with national anthem.

A two-minute silence was observed in respect of the great braveheart. Akhnoor Sports Club is an organization which is committed to the service for promoting all round sports activities in Akhnoor area. Praising the valiant army officer of Akhnoor who laid down his life for defending the motherland, the chief guest exhorted the youth to come forward to defend the borders of the motherland and infused a spirit of patriotism in the young generation and reaffirmed his commitment to keep the light of martyrdom burning.
