Mumbai: Actor Richa Chadha has strongly condemned the tragic murder of 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav, who was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, in Gurugram on July 10.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Chadha criticized not only the heinous act but also those who attempt to justify such violence. She was responding to a video shared by Radhika’s friend, Himanshikha Singh Rajput, who revealed that Radhika had often been judged for her lifestyle choices — including wearing shorts, speaking with men, and living independently.
“There is no honor in killing your own child,” Chadha wrote. “If a few wagging tongues spoke badly of him earlier, now the whole world will remember Deepak Yadav as a loser, forever. Deepak Yadav, you have cemented your place as a LOSER and a COWARD in the annals of history.”
Radhika was reportedly shot following a dispute with her father regarding her tennis academy, located in Sector 57, Gurugram. According to Gurugram Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sandeep Kumar, the accused, who runs a rental property business, was unhappy with Radhika pursuing work despite their comfortable financial situation.
Radhika’s body was cremated in Gurugram on July 11 following a post-mortem examination. Dr. Deepak Mathur, part of the medical team, confirmed that four bullets were removed from her body.
On Saturday, a Gurugram court remanded Deepak Yadav to 14 days of judicial custody.
