Rs 53k fine imposed on erring traders in Shopian; 20 cases disposed-off

SHOPIAN,: The Court of Adjudicating Officer, Additional District Magistrate Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz today imposed a fine of Rs 53000 on various Food Business Operators (FBOs) for violating different provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FS&SA) while disposing-off 20 cases on the occasion.

The fine was imposed on the erring traders (for misbranded and sub standard food) during the proceeding of cases of various blocks of district Shopian related to the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006, listed before the Adjudicating Officer.

The Adjudicating Officer warned them to abide by the legal regulations adding that non-compliance of the Food Safety and Standards Act and rules thereunder by the food business operators will be dealt with more strictly.

It is pertinent to mention here that the concerned Enforcement Agency was directed by the Adjudicating Officer under the FSS Act-2006, to take stern action against the violators so that consumers can be provided quality food.
