A rusted mortar shell was recovered from a forward village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Thursday, officials said.
Residents spotted the shell lying in an open area in Balakote, within the Mendhar sector, they added.
A bomb disposal team was called to the site and safely defused the explosive device without any damage or injury.
