Kathua: A rusted mortar shell was recovered and safely defused on Wednesday in a forward village near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, officials said.
The shell was first spotted by villagers in an open field at Bobiya in the Hiranagar sector earlier in the day, they said.
A bomb disposal squad was called to the site and neutralised the explosive device without any damage or injury, the officials added.
