Sakeena Itoo Lays E-Foundation Stone for Teachers Quarters at GHSS Khull, Kulgam
SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today laid the e-foundation stone for the construction of Teachers Quarters at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Khull, in the DH Pora area of Kulgam district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the initiative will significantly enhance the academic environment by providing proper accommodation for teachers. She emphasized that this move will not only improve overall educational standards in the area but also boost the morale of teaching staff posted in remote regions.
“By ensuring adequate housing for teachers, the Government is promoting their stability, motivation, and presence in far-flung areas. This step will directly contribute to raising the quality of education in Khull and surrounding regions,” the Minister stated.
Highlighting the Government’s focus on rural education, she added that strengthening academic infrastructure—including school buildings, laboratories, digital learning facilities, and residential quarters for staff—is essential for an effective education system.
“Education is the cornerstone of progress and social transformation. The Omar Abdullah-led Government is committed to providing quality education to every child, irrespective of geography. Initiatives like these will elevate teaching standards and encourage talented educators to serve willingly in remote areas,” she said.
During the event, several locals interacted with the Minister virtually, expressing gratitude for the project, describing it as a long-awaited initiative that will alleviate hardships faced by teachers in the area. They noted that the Government’s move will help ensure regular classes and strengthen teacher-student engagement.
While addressing the community, Minister Sakeena reiterated the Government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure in rural and remote areas, emphasizing that quality education forms the foundation of socio-economic development.
The programme was attended by Director School Education Kashmir, Director Health Services Kashmir, CEO Kulgam, senior district administration officials, sectoral officers from various departments, and a large number of local residents.
