Health Minister Sakeena Itoo Reviews Medical Facilities at Gandhi Nagar and GB Pant Hospitals, Jammu

JAMMU: Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo today visited Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar to assess the medical care facilities available to the public.

The Minister was accompanied by MLA Bahu Constituency Vikram Randhawa, Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, Director AYUSH Dr. Nuzhat Bashir Shah, Chief Medical Officer, and other senior health officials.

During her visit, the Minister conducted a thorough inspection of the hospital, including the Emergency Wing, Inpatient Department (IPD) Block, general wards, Blood Bank, and other key sections. She interacted with on-duty doctors and medical staff to receive first-hand feedback on the availability of medicines, diagnostic support, and overall patient care.

Emphasizing the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure, Minister Itoo urged the hospital administration to focus on cleanliness, patient comfort, and efficient healthcare services. Medical Superintendent Dr. Narinder Singh Bhatial briefed her on the hospital’s current functioning and overall performance.

The Minister also engaged with patients, their attendants, and the general public to understand their concerns, assuring that the hospital’s medical infrastructure would be upgraded to meet the needs of the community. MLA Vikram Randhawa highlighted the underutilization of the 200-bedded Maternal and Child Health (MCH) block. In response, Minister Itoo instructed the Director Health Services to submit a proposal for its optimal utilization.

Earlier, Minister Itoo visited GB Pant Hospital, Jammu, where she reviewed healthcare facilities and noted concerns raised by staff, patients, and the public. She assured that these issues would be addressed promptly. Reiterating the government’s commitment, she emphasized that accessible and affordable healthcare is a fundamental right, and efforts are underway to enhance services across Jammu & Kashmir.
