Srinagar: Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo on Friday criticised the administration for not declaring the Eid-e-Milad holiday in accordance with the actual date, terming it an “injustice” to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on X, Itoo said that although guidelines clearly state that holidays should depend on the sighting of the moon, the authorities failed to follow the rule.
“Repeated requests from the elected government to reschedule the holiday were ignored. This is playing with people’s sentiments. Such decisions must rest with an elected government, not a selected administration,” she wrote.
