Mumbai: Some shows aren’t just watched — they become a part of life. For millions of Indians in the early 2000s, evenings truly began only after the familiar tune of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii filled their living rooms.
As the iconic family drama completes 25 years, nostalgia swept through fans and the cast alike when the stars of the show reunited to celebrate its silver jubilee.
On Thursday evening, actor Shweta Kawatra — who played the memorable antagonist Pallavi Agarwal — took to Instagram to share a heartwarming video featuring Sakshi Tanwar, Shweta Kawatra, Sweta Keswani, and Sucheta Trivedi reliving their iconic characters — Parvati, Pallavi, Avantika, and Shilpa.
Sharing the clip, Shweta captioned it:
“Met as strangers. Hung as friends. Became a tribe. 25 years or 25 blinks, we wouldn’t know — because for us, it’s all the same! Be it Bahus or Babuji, memories or marriages — we did it all here, and we did it with elan! #theOGs #KahaaniGharGharKii @manavgohil.”
Producer Ektaa Kapoor, who created the show under her banner Balaji Telefilms, also marked the milestone with an emotional tribute.
She wrote:
“25 years of this show! At 25, making a show about family values, culture, and an older couple who embodied love, morality, and warmth — symbolic of the Ramayan — was ironic, to say the least! Sakshi Tanwar and the entire cast, along with the creative team, made this show a beacon of hope for those yearning for representation of a culture that wasn’t celebrated enough back then. Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii was too good to be true — but it was everything we aspired to be! 25 years later, and Sakshi still looks the same!”
First aired on October 16, 2000, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii ran for eight years, becoming one of Indian television’s most beloved and longest-running dramas. Starring Sakshi Tanwar as Parvati and Kiran Karmarkar as Om Agarwal, the show beautifully captured the love, values, and emotional bonds of Indian middle-class families — leaving a legacy that continues to resonate even today.
