Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge Could Replace Plus Model Next Year: What We Know
Samsung appears to be reshaping its Galaxy S series lineup, and the upcoming Galaxy S26 range may mark a major shift. According to new reports, the company is planning to drop the ‘Plus’ variant in favor of the ‘Edge’ model—hinting at a three-device lineup in 2026: Galaxy S26, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra. The official launch is expected around January or February next year.
Is This the End of the Plus Model?
The report, published by The Elec, suggests Samsung could be streamlining the Galaxy S26 series by cutting back on redundant options. With the Galaxy S25 Edge already hinting at this shift earlier this year, the move to eliminate the Plus variant now seems more plausible than ever.
Interestingly, both the Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Edge come with the same 6.7-inch display. The main differences lie in design, battery size, and overall build. So, consolidating the lineup by keeping only the Edge model with the same screen size could be a more efficient approach.
A Strategic Move?
This could be Samsung’s way of offering a fresh alternative while simplifying choices for buyers—much like Apple is rumored to be doing with the possible iPhone 17 Air replacing its Plus variant. While nothing is official yet, signs strongly suggest that Samsung is positioning the Edge as the mid-tier option between the base and Ultra models going forward.
Despite not fully meeting expectations—especially with its underwhelming battery capacity and high price tag—the S25 Edge might still serve as a foundation for Samsung’s design direction. Retaining the Edge branding and ditching the Plus could be a calculated move to rejuvenate the lineup without overwhelming the market.
