Samsung Galaxy Watch To Get AI-Powered Heart Health Tool: Here’s What’s Coming

Samsung is gearing up to make its Galaxy Watch series even smarter with a major health upgrade that could benefit millions of users. The company has been steadily enhancing its wearables with reliable health-tracking features and AI-powered insights, and now it’s preparing to introduce an advanced heart-monitoring tool that rivals the Apple Watch.

Current Galaxy Watch models already include features like ECG and Afib detection to monitor heart activity. But Samsung’s next innovation aims to go deeper — helping detect early signs of heart failure. The tech giant has revealed that its upcoming feature can identify when the heart muscles are weak, a condition often linked to Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction (LVSD) — a potential precursor to heart failure.

The new health feature uses an AI algorithm developed by Medical AI, which analyzes ECG readings captured by the Galaxy Watch to detect LVSD. Impressively, this technology has already received approval from South Korea’s health authorities, paving the way for integration into the Samsung Health app in the near future.

While Samsung hasn’t confirmed a release timeline, it’s expected that the rollout will begin in select regions before expanding globally over the next few years.

Meanwhile, in other Samsung news, Galaxy S22 series users have started receiving the One UI 8 update, marking the final major OS upgrade for these devices. The S22 lineup launched with Android 12 and is now completing its four promised OS upgrades with Android 16. However, Samsung will continue to provide one additional year of security updates before officially ending software support for the series.
