Mumbai, : Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir has seen no real change since the abrogation of Article 370 six years ago, and stressed the need to restore full statehood to the region.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Raut said that people from other parts of India still cannot purchase land in J&K, unemployment among local youth remains high, and incidents of terrorism and violence continue.
“Despite the Indian Constitution being in force, nothing works according to it in Kashmir. An elected government exists, but it has no powers. It has been reduced to a Union Territory. Granting statehood back is essential,” he said.
The Central government revoked Article 370, which granted special status to J&K, on August 5, 2019.
