Actor Sonu Sood posted on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his anguish over the disaster. “Heartbroken by the devastating floods and cloudburst in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Actor Adivi Sesh shared a brief message on X: “Praying for #Uttarakhand. Heartbreaking visuals.”
The cloudburst occurred on Tuesday, triggering massive flash floods in Uttarkashi that swept away houses, shops, and roads. Many people are reported missing.
Two separate cloudbursts were reported—one in Dharali and another in the Sukhi Top area—causing widespread devastation. Dharali, in particular, suffered severe damage, including mudslides and continued flash flooding.
The Bhatwadi section of the Uttarkashi-Harsil road was completely washed away, leading to overnight road blockages. Dharali, which bore the brunt of the disaster, is located around 50 kilometres from the affected route.
