Directs Swift Relief, Rehabilitation, and Restoration Measures
JAMMU: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services, and Sports, Satish Sharma, today conducted an extensive tour of flood-affected areas in Jammu district to assess the situation and review ongoing rescue and relief operations following the recent floods.
Accompanied by senior district administration officials and representatives from the Food & Civil Supplies, Transport, PHE, PDD, RDD, and allied departments, the Minister visited low-lying and severely affected localities, interacted with flood victims, and evaluated the damage to residential houses, agricultural fields, public utilities, and road networks.


Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Satish Sharma conveyed deep concern over the hardships faced by residents and assured them of steadfast government support. He directed authorities to provide immediate relief, including ration, clean drinking water, medicines, and temporary shelter facilities to all impacted families.
The Minister instructed the Food & Civil Supplies department to maintain adequate stocks of essentials in all affected areas and ensure uninterrupted supply chains, particularly to remote and cut-off pockets. He also urged the Transport department to restore road connectivity on a priority basis to facilitate timely delivery of relief and essential services.
Highlighting the damage to public infrastructure, Satish Sharma called for a comprehensive assessment report from the concerned departments to be submitted immediately to the government, enabling prompt compensation and rehabilitation measures for affected families.
He stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination among Civil Supplies, Health, PHE, PDD, Rural Development, and Transport departments to ensure efficient relief distribution and rapid restoration of services. Special attention was emphasized for vulnerable groups, including women, children, the elderly, and differently-abled individuals, throughout the relief and rehabilitation process.
While engaging with local representatives and community members, the Minister appreciated the tireless efforts of the district administration, police, and volunteers in the ongoing rescue and relief operations, urging them to continue their dedicated service until normalcy is fully restored.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Satish Sharma assured that all possible measures will be undertaken to alleviate the suffering of the people, alongside long-term rehabilitation and flood-prevention initiatives.
