Satish Sharma, BCCI President Discuss Promotion, Development of Cricket Infrastructure in J&K
SRINAGAR: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, held an extensive meeting with BCCI President Mithun Manhas to discuss the promotion and development of cricket infrastructure and related activities across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the interaction, the Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent and strengthening grassroots cricket in the Union Territory. He emphasized the importance of establishing modern training facilities, organizing youth engagement programmes, and holding structured tournaments to identify and groom emerging players. Sharma also underscored the need to give special focus to border, remote, and far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting also explored avenues for hosting inter-district and national-level tournaments, improving coaching support, and upgrading existing cricket facilities to meet national standards.
Reaffirming the government’s vision to make Jammu and Kashmir a hub of sporting excellence, particularly in cricket, Satish Sharma called for enhanced collaboration between the UT administration and national sports bodies.
BCCI President Mithun Manhas appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the Jammu and Kashmir Government and assured full cooperation from the Board in developing cricket at all levels across the region.
