JAMMU: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Transport, Satish Sharma, today visited flood-affected areas of Block Chowki Choura, including Panchayat Rah (village Rah) and Hardu Mallara, to assess the impact of heavy rains and flash floods.
He was accompanied by senior officials from the district administration, PHE, RDD, PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, and other related departments.
During the visit, the Minister interacted with affected families and personally surveyed damage to property, infrastructure, and agricultural land. Authorities informed him that several families have been relocated to safer locations, including the Government High School and Panchayat Ghar Rah Salyote, as a precautionary measure.



Satish Sharma directed the district administration and concerned officials to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation support to all affected households. He emphasized that essential supplies—including ration, clean drinking water, LPG, and medical aid—must reach displaced families without delay. He also instructed officials to prioritize the restoration of electricity, road connectivity, and water supply.
Reiterating that citizens’ safety and well-being remain the government’s top priority, the Minister assured that sufficient funds and resources would be mobilized for relief and rehabilitation. He further instructed authorities to conduct a thorough assessment of damages to property, livestock, and crops to ensure timely compensation for affected families.
Urging people in vulnerable areas to remain alert, Satish Sharma said the administration is closely monitoring the situation and taking all necessary measures to minimize further hardship.
