Satish Sharma Visits Kathua, Expresses Solidarity, Assures Government Support

KATHUA: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, today visited Kathua district to meet families affected by the recent cloudburst and landslides that claimed several lives and left many injured.

During his visit, the Minister interacted with bereaved families, expressed deep grief over the tragic loss of lives, and conveyed his heartfelt condolences. He assured the affected families that the government would provide full support, including relief, rehabilitation, and other necessary assistance during this difficult time.

Satish Sharma also visited Government Medical College Kathua, met the injured undergoing treatment, and prayed for their speedy recovery. He instructed the district administration to ensure timely medical care and to prevent any delays in disbursing relief to affected families.

“The cloudburst and landslides in Jodh Khad, Juthana, and surrounding areas have caused immense tragedy. While the loss of precious lives cannot be compensated, the government stands firmly with every affected family and will extend all necessary support for their rehabilitation,” he said.

The Minister emphasized that relief and rescue operations are being carried out on a priority basis and highlighted the importance of precautionary measures in vulnerable areas to reduce future risks. He urged the local population to remain vigilant and cooperate with the administration in ongoing rescue and relief efforts.

He was accompanied by ADDC Kathua Surinder Mohan, Principal of GMC Kathua Dr. Sunil Atri, and other senior district officials. Later, the Minister also visited Army Hospital Pathankot to inquire about the well-being of patients transferred there for treatment.
