Hong Kong: Legendary striker Cristiano Ronaldo will be aiming for his first official trophy with Al Nassr as they face Al Ahli in the Saudi Super Cup 2025 final on Saturday at the Hong Kong Stadium.

Despite his impressive goal-scoring record for the Saudi club, Ronaldo has yet to lift an official title since joining Al Nassr ahead of the 2023 season, according to Olympics.com. He is also just one goal away from reaching a century of goals for the club. While he did help Al Nassr win the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023, the tournament was unofficial, organized by an unrecognized body.

Ronaldo played a key role in Al Nassr’s journey to the final, assisting Joao Felix’s decisive goal against Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad in the semi-finals. Al Nassr won 2-1 despite being reduced to 10 men after Sadio Mane was sent off in the 25th minute. Mane had opened the scoring in the 10th minute.

For the final, Jorge Jesus’ side will be without Mane, facing a strong Al Ahli team captained by former Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez. Mahrez provided two assists as Al Ahli thrashed Al Qadsiah 5-1 in their semi-final clash.

Historically, the two sides have met 72 times, with Al Ahli holding a slight edge with 29 wins to Al Nassr’s 28, and 15 draws. However, Al Nassr have remained unbeaten in the last seven encounters, with Al Ahli’s last victory coming in 2020.

The Saudi Super Cup, introduced in 2013, is in its 12th edition this year. Al Nassr are two-time champions (2019, 2020), while Al Ahli claimed the title in 2016.
