Nagpur: SBL Energy, a private manufacturer of industrial explosives and defence products based in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district, announced on Saturday that it will roll out SCOUT, an AI-powered CCTV analytics solution aimed at enhancing workplace safety and reducing risks.
The Katol tehsil-based company said the system will provide proactive safety monitoring by automatically detecting issues such as missing protective gear, unsafe mobile phone use, unauthorised access, blocked emergency exits, forklift movement in pedestrian areas, and early signs of fire or gas leaks.
The move follows a recent blast at a private explosives factory in Bazargaon, Nagpur, which killed one worker and left 14 others injured.
“Our company already complies with PESO guidelines, conducts HAZOP analysis and undergoes third-party audits. But ensuring workers’ adherence to SOPs remains a challenge. To bridge this gap, we are introducing SCOUT, which transforms existing cameras into intelligent monitoring tools without requiring new hardware,” said Shubham Choudhari, Chief Technology Officer of SBL Energy.
He added that the system will issue real-time alerts through alarms, hooters, SMS, and email, while also maintaining central dashboards with incident logs and compliance reports for management oversight.
SBL Energy President Divyansh Choudhari said the Yenerva-based factory, spread across 225 acres, supplies explosives and related products to PSUs, government organisations, mining contractors, explosive dealers, construction and water development agencies, oil exploration companies, coal and metal mines, as well as tunnelling and road construction projects.
