Srinagar: Security forces on Friday recovered the body of a second missing Army commando from the dense Gadool forests in Kokernag, south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, where a massive search operation has been ongoing for the past four days.
Officials said the body was found during an intensified combing operation in the rugged, heavily forested terrain — the epicentre of one of the most difficult manhunts in recent times.
The recovery follows Thursday’s retrieval of another elite paratrooper from the Army’s 7 Para (Special Forces) unit from the same area. Both commandos had gone missing during an anti-terror operation launched on the basis of credible intelligence about the presence of foreign militants in the region.
