JAMMU: Secretary, Information Technology Department (ITD), Dr. Piyush Singla, today chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review the progress of the e-SAM (e-Security Assessment and Management) Inventory Management Portal implementation across Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on various aspects to ensure the smooth rollout of the portal.

Addressing the officers, Dr. Singla highlighted that the e-SAM Portal aims to create a unified, real-time, and end-to-end inventory management system for all IT infrastructure across government departments, extending down to the grassroots level. He added that, in subsequent phases, the Union Territory’s complete IT inventory will be integrated with EDR and other cybersecurity systems to enhance asset visibility and strengthen the overall cybersecurity framework.

The Secretary directed the officers to conduct regular training and onboarding sessions for Administrative Departments and Sub-DDOs to facilitate seamless implementation across all levels. He also instructed the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to add a new module in the portal to capture software inventory details in addition to existing hardware assets.

Emphasizing timely coordination among all stakeholders, Dr. Singla set a target for complete implementation of the e-SAM Portal by 15th December 2025.

The Secretary was informed that user accounts for all 42 Administrative Departments have been created, and admin credentials shared with the respective departments. The departmental administrators will now generate Store In-charge level user accounts at their end.

The Project Management Unit (PMU) further apprised the Secretary that department-wise coordination meetings with Nodal Officers will begin on 10th November 2025 to provide structured onboarding and handholding support.
