Srinagar: Security forces on Tuesday destroyed a terrorist hideout at the site of an ongoing encounter in the Gudder forest area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.
A senior police officer stated that the operation, which began on Monday morning, had already resulted in the deaths of two terrorists and two army personnel, while a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) sustained injuries, before the operation was paused for the night and resumed at dawn.
During fresh searches today, security forces located and demolished a hideout used by the militants. A strict cordon has been maintained in the area to prevent any escape.
The encounter broke out after a joint team of the Army, CRPF, SOG, and police launched a cordon-and-search operation based on intelligence regarding terrorist movements in the forest belt.
