Security forces launch search operation in Poonch after reports of suspicious movement by locals

Mendhar/Jammu: Security forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) on Saturday across 11 localities in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, following reports of suspicious movement, officials said.

The operation covered areas including Behra Kund, Potha Jungle, Surankote, Peer Tanora, Sangla, Mohalla Lohar Chandimarh, Kandi, Kangra, Keri Galhuta, Mughal Marah Mohalla Muri, and Poli Wala Dhok, spanning Mendhar, Mankote, and Surankote sectors.

Authorities said the search was initiated after locals alerted security agencies about unusual activity. Security has been stepped up, with additional reinforcements deployed to the region.

The operation was conducted by the Special Operations Group (SoG), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Rashtriya Rifles, officials added.
