Budgam, Nov 27: Police in Budgam district carried out a series of raids targeting institutes and individuals linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). Officials confirmed that the action was part of a wider crackdown across Jammu and Kashmir to enforce restrictions on proscribed organisations.

Authorities stated that the raids focused on educational and community establishments suspected of maintaining ties with JeI. Documents, electronic devices, and other materials were seized during the searches, which are now under examination for evidence of financial or organisational links.

Security officials emphasized that the operation was aimed at preventing any attempts to regroup or revive JeI networks under different names. They added that strict enforcement against banned groups remains a priority to safeguard peace and stability in the region.

Police reiterated that such measures are precautionary and investigative in nature, forming part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with legal directives. Follow-up inquiries and further actions are expected in the coming days.

The government has maintained that decisive steps against proscribed outfits are essential to uphold law and order, with law enforcement agencies committed to pursuing cases under due process.
