MUMBAI: Breaking a four-session losing streak, equity markets rebounded on Tuesday as the Sensex rose 317 points, driven by buying in auto and pharma stocks. A sharp drop in retail inflation to its lowest level in over six years — nearing the RBI’s comfort zone — also lifted investor sentiment.
The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 317.45 points, or 0.39%, to close at 82,570.91. During intraday trade, it surged as much as 490.16 points to 82,743.62.
Meanwhile, the broader NSE Nifty gained 113.50 points, or 0.45%, to end at 25,195.80.
