Deputy Commissioner Pays Glorious Tributes to Father of the Nation

RAJOURI: The 16-day-long Sewa Parv concluded today across Rajouri district with a series of meaningful programmes organised to mark Gandhi Jayanti.

Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma paid glowing tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, at the valedictory function held at Boys Higher Secondary School here. Addressing the gathering, the DC emphasized Gandhi Ji’s timeless ideals of truth, non-violence, and simplicity, urging the younger generation to embrace these values in their daily lives.

At GHSS Moghla, students and staff honoured Gandhi Ji with floral tributes and shared reflections on his contributions and enduring values. A special programme at the Gujjar and Bakerwal Boys Hostel, Kalakote, highlighted the teachings of the Father of the Nation to inspire youth. Staff of BGSBU also organised a tribute function to commemorate the occasion.

Government Degree College (GDC) Kotranka hosted the valedictory function of Sewa Parv 2025, alongside Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. GDC Kalakote conducted an online quiz on Gandhi Ji’s life and philosophy, while GDC Nowshera and PG College Rajouri marked the day with plantation drives and cultural performances reflecting the principles of peace, service, and sustainability advocated by Gandhi Ji.

The Health Department observed Gandhi Jayanti through an awareness event under the Kusht Mukti Abhiyan at the CMO Office Complex, where Chief Medical Officer Dr. M.L. Rana flagged off an ambulance carrying leprosy awareness materials. Subsequently, the District Health Officer and his team held a Special Gram Sabha at Panchayat Tundi Trar to raise awareness on leprosy and tuberculosis.

As part of community recognition, Yuva Bharat NGO organised a felicitation ceremony at Dak Bungalow Sunderbani, where 46 Safai Mitras of MC Sunderbani were honoured by ADC Ramkesh Sharma for their dedicated services. Municipal Committee Sunderbani and Government Medical College & AH Rajouri also conducted sanitation drives, furthering Gandhi Ji’s vision of a Swachh Bharat.

Through these initiatives, the district-wide observance of Sewa Parv concluded on a meaningful note, reinforcing Gandhi Ji’s values of truth, cleanliness, service, and inclusivity, while inspiring a sense of responsibility and collective participation among the citizens of Rajouri.
